Pueblo Half Marathon

So it had been about 7 months since we had ran a half marathon and we decided it was time.  After training all fall with the cross country team, Maria wanted to see if she had gotten faster.  So she heard about this race from a friend and she and Laurie signed up for the race.  It was a cold morning for the race.  We headed for Pueblo early in the morning.  The drive was nice and it didn't take that long to get there.  When we arrived we signed in and received our purple sweatshirts that are somewhat 80s style.  Then we decided to participate in a new race ritual.  It was time to warm-up.  We jogged for about 10 minutes and then did a routine of warm-up drills.

It was time for the race.  We weren't nervous at all.  The race started off nice and flat. We did two loops around the zoo then off on the trail we went for the other 11 miles.  The course was flat and filled with rocks and different terrain.

On the way back we started speeding up and we made up some time.  We wanted to break 2 hours and we got really close.  The end of the race was the worst part because there was a huge hill right at the end.  We made it to the finish and we were exhausted.  This was by far our fastest race and we would definitely run this one again.

Our finishing time was 2:02:22.  How perfect for the day that Cam Newton (#2) and the Auburn Tigers secured their place in the National Championship game!
